Calling all Volcano DJ's and Support Crew

Volcano Radio is gathering in the first week of November. We are looking to get together on Saturday the 5th or Sunday the 6th.

Lets kick the station back onto air in December

Volcano Radio Currently Off Air

Volcano Radio has not been operating live in the studio since the June 13th earthquakes.

With the weight of the responsibility of 70 people coming up to the studio each week we felt we needed an engineers report before continuing to enter the studio in Shadbolt House. We went to auto until July 27 when an essential piece of equipment failed.

We are planning to be back on air in December

Nga mihi nui Carmel Courtney

On Saturday the 26th of February the Lyttelton Community gathered on the 'Grassy' park 5 days after the christchurch Earthquake that was centered in Lyttelton.

A special thanks to Carmel Courtney, Simon Riley and the team at Volcano Radio for organising this event

View the fantastic gallery of photos that demonstrate how a strong community can come together in the face of adversity.

The Lyttelton community would also like to thank the New Zealand Navy and especially those aboard the HMNZS Canterbury who have provided food, water and support during one of the darkest weeks in our history.

Message of thanks from Volcano radio

Our hearts & thoughts are with those that have lost friends and family members in Lyttelton. Much love also to the wider Christchurch community who have lost and who are struggling under immense pressure. Strength to all the search and rescue teams who are working hard looking for survivors.

Thank you to all the good people who have been sending messages of support in from around the country

The NZ navy multi purpose vessel Canterbury that is currently in the Port of Lyttelton is scheduled to leave on Sunday for Wellington where it will resupply with essential equipment and food supplies then return on Monday. Big thanks to Captain Dean McDougal and Commander Jim Gilmour and their very hard working crew who have been doing a stirling effort in helping with the disaster relief effort.
