Brothers Marty and Andy Coyle present a show that features a songwriter showcase, that is, a half hour in depth look at one of the world’s great songwriters. Their musical interests span from the 30’s American songbook to modern alt country, from British indie guitar bands to the royalty of popular songwriters. They also bring a good balance of background information to the show, keep an eye on new releases and any gigs happening in port and in town. As the older brother Marty has been an influence in Andy’s musical development, but there is also an interesting difference in their tastes, and often a comical difference of opinion, especially when it comes to the question Beatles or Stones.

The show has featured the likes of Tom Waits, Bob Dylan, Gram Parsons, Patti Smith, Don McGlashan, Paul Kelly, Ryan Adams, and more songwriters from all genres. Of course the show has a soft spot for our patron saint Leonard Cohen, and in philosophical moments the hosts are open to discussion on the experience of songwriters who find themselves caught in the Tower of Song.
